“As we started brainstorming our wedding plans in the summer of 2022, we didn’t know exactly what kind of marriage celebration we wanted to host, but we both knew having a traditional wedding was not something we wanted to do. After some consideration of elopement, we ultimately created a vision of doing an intimate courthouse ceremony and then hosting a small number (50) of guests at a speakeasy-style venue, somewhere in the Colorado Mountains. Aspen has always been a special place for us as a couple, so we first looked to plan our celebration there. After our initial Aspen venue fell through, we asked our planner to help us find another similar type of venue where she suggested a new concept that was opening in Vail, Chasing Rabbits. Chasing Rabbits had not opened yet so we did a virtual walkthrough with their team to go through the floor plans and design of the space. After the call, we felt confident Chasing Rabbits had exactly what we hoped for in a venue – the décor, style, and “speakeasy” aesthetic. With the venue for the “reception” booked, we set our sights on planning the ceremony. We still had a desire to incorporate Aspen into our wedding celebration and during a trip to Aspen for our engagement photos in October 2022, we made a decision to fully pursue that vision. We worked with our planner and florist, to have Pitkin County Courthouse be the location of our ceremony. Our somewhat non-traditional wedding celebration turned into the perfect week. We got married in Aspen at the courthouse on Thursday, hosted a welcome party in Vail at Deca + Bol on Friday, held our 50 person wedding reception at Chasing Rabbits on Saturday, and then closed out the weekend with a farewell brunch at Root and Flower on Sunday.”
