It is with endless gratitude that I post this day before Thanksgiving, 2015. This picture will be forever engraved in my memory – I think of it each and every year without hesitation. Andrea and Rory were married on November 27th. The day was filled with shear joy, smiles and laughs. When it snowed, we smiled, when the sun shone, we smiled. They were just happy to be in love, and joining together in marriage with friends and family. It was the first day I met Liz Banfield, one of my very favorite photographers and people on the planet. It was one of the first weddings I coordinated at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch on my own (I had worked there as a catering and conference services manager prior, and opened up the property). And very unknowingly, it was my first “big break”. This wedding ended up on the pages of Town & Country Weddings. This wedding was filled to the brim with impeccable taste. From a horse drawn carriage in the snow, centerpieces filled with clementines, linens Ralph Lauren would die for, and ski ornaments given to guests as gifts, doubling as escort cards. Of course, Andrea and Rory had their priorities straight. We finished the evening with a sparkler exit. They strapped on their skis (boots and all) and skied down the hill!
Wedding planning is certainly a job. An extremely hard one at times. But it is unlike any other. I have the opportunity each day to wake up and immerse myself in a family’s love for their child. It is truly a blessing to get to know my clients and consider them family. The hard part for me is saying goodbye. Andrea and Rory, I will never be able to say goodbye to you both! Happy Anniversary and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
